After this, there are shifting realities, plays within plays and even two endings.
- SparkNotes: Poe’s Short Stories: “The Tell-Tale Heart” ()!
- In Bed With Her Tall, Sexy Handsome Boss: All Night with the Boss / The Bosss Wife for a Week / My Tall Dark Greek Boss (Mills & Boon By Request).
- Mortal Bonds!
Lawrance delivers the hammed-up horror with a straight face while Imogen Doel, as Nora, and David Carlyle, as the detective who investigates the murder, bring a delicious comic menace to their performances. But this simple set becomes protean as the play slips and slides into its altered realities, with lightning sparks, puffs of smoke and suddenly moving props to amp up the thrills and spills.
Anthony Neilson directs this riff on Edgar Allan Poe's dark short story
The blood and gore, when it comes, is schlocky and the horror is at its best when the drama drifts into playing mind games with reality. All the same, the production seems too playful to contain any kind of serious moral message. It simply shocks and entertains. This site requires cookies, for account access and ticket purchasing. Darkly, deliciously silly. Time Out. A little crazy, crude and mightily enjoyable.

Festive fun of the most delectably terrifying kind. Daily Telegraph. Stunningly inventive.
Not as completely fabulous as Unreachable with the always brilliant Matt Smith, hilarious Jonjo O'Neill and Tamara Lawrence who also stars in this but all of the same hallmarks. Great set, loads of surprises, a knowing but what-the-heck tone and a celebration of the magic of live theatre which connects the audience and the performers. A real festive treat which had the audience gasping with shock, hooting with nervous laughter and cheering at the end.
Seeing this after the masterful minimalist Richard II at Almeida, it reminds you of why theatr can still surprise and utterly delight. Go to the content Go to the footer Close London Change city. Things to do. Art Latest reviews View all. Popular November December January February.
